This Standard specifies moulded rubber boots used at end closures on automotive drum-type brake wheel cylinders using a non-petroleum-base brake fluid to prevent the entrance of dirt and moisture into the cylinder (hereafter referred to as "boots").

NOTE: The International Standards corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 4927: 2005 Road vehicles-Elastomeric boots for cylinders for drum type hydraulic brake wheel cylinders using a non-petroleum base hydraulic brake fluid (Service temperature 120 DC max.)

ISO 6117 :2005 Road vehicles-Elastomeric boots for drum-type, hydraulic brake wheel cylinders using a non-petroleum base hydraulic brake fluid (service temperature 100 DC max.) (Overall evaluation: MOD)

The symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEC Guide 21-1.
