This Standard specifies the method for Rockwell and Rockwell superficial hardness tests (scales and fields of application are in accordance with table i) for metallic materials.

For specific materials and/or products such as hardmetals, other specific International Standards apply (for instance, ISO 3738-1 and IS0 4498-1).

Remarks 1 For certain materials, the fields of application may be narrower than those indicated.
