For more information, see <span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 3506-6<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The term \u201cfasteners\u201d is used in this document when bolts, screws, studs and nuts are considered all together.<\/p>\n<p>It specifies fastener properties in relation to three material categories: martensitic steels, precipitation hardening austenitic steels and nickel alloys.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 3506-6<\/span><\/span> provides general rules and additional technical information on suitable stainless steels and nickel alloys as well as their properties.<\/p>\n<p>This document applies to fasteners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>with ISO metric thread in accordance with <span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 68-1<\/span><\/span>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>with diameter\/pitch combinations in accordance with <span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 261<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 262<\/span><\/span>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>with coarse pitch thread M3 to M39, and fine pitch thread M8\u00d71 to M39\u00d73,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>with thread tolerances in accordance with <span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 965-1<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 965-2<\/span><\/span>, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>of any shape but with full loadability.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stainless steels and Nickel alloys grades may be used for sizes outside the diameter limits of this document (i.e. for <i>d<\/i>&nbsp;&lt;&nbsp;3&nbsp;mm or <i>d<\/i>&nbsp;&gt;&nbsp;39&nbsp;mm), provided that all applicable chemical, mechanical and physical requirements are met.<\/p>\n<p>Fasteners with reduced loadability (i.e. thin nuts and bolts, screws and studs with head or shank weaker than the threaded shank) are not dealt with in this document.<\/p>\n<p>It does not specify requirements for functional properties such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Torque\/clamp force properties<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Shear strength<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Fatigue resistance, or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Weldability<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><b>BS ISO 3506-5.
