It does not include general rubber industry terms, e.g. vulcanization, shore hardness, etc., for which reference should be made to ISO 1382; nor does it include mechanical engineering terms such as axis, web, etc.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTES<\/p>\n<p>1 When a term has one or more synonyms, the synonymous terms follow the preferred term.<\/p>\n<p>2 For the purposes of the definitions in this Technical Report, \u201croller\u201d is treated as a synonym for \u201crubber- or plastics-covered roller\u201d. Therefore care should be taken to ensure that the word is not used out of context, because it does have other meanings.<\/p>\n<p>3 For the purposes of the definitions in this Technical Report, \u201crubber\u201d as defined in ISO 1382 is treated as a synonym for \u201csoft rubber\u201d or \u201chard rubber\u201d or \u201cebonite\u201d. The term \u201crubber\u201d can be replaced by \u201cplastics\u201d as defined in ISO 472 or \u201celastomer\u201d without change in meaning.
