ESDU 74041:1974

ESDU 74041 illustrates the use of ESDU 73019 (on range calculation) and ESDU 74018 (on lost range, fuel and time due to climb and descent), by applying them to a practical example. A large subsonic transport is considered with an empty weight of 240 000 lb and a payload of 80 000 lb, cruising at a Mach number of 0.82. Its performance at various constant heights on stage lengths of 500, 1000, 1500 and 2000 nautical miles is calculated and graphs are constructed to show the performance including the fuel used, stage time, and the mean speeds.
