This part of IEC 60051<\/span> <\/span> specifies definitions and general requirements for direct acting indicating analogue electrical measuring instruments and their accessories.<\/p>\n This part applies to direct acting indicating analogue electrical measuring instruments, such as:<\/p>\n ammeters and voltmeters;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n wattmeters and varmeters;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n frequency meters of pointer and vibrating-reed types;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n phasemeters, power-factor meters and synchroscopes;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n ohmmeters(impedance meters) and conductance meters;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n multi-function instruments of the above types.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n It also applies to:<\/p>\n certain accessories used with these instruments, such as:<\/p>\n shunts;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n series resistors and impedance elements;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n combination of the instruments and the accessories provided that the adjustments have been made for the combination;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n direct acting indicating electrical measuring instrument whose scale marks do not correspond directly to its electrical input quantity, provided that the relationship between them is known;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n instruments and accessories having electronic devices in their measuring and\/or auxiliary circuits.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n These series standards do not apply to:<\/p>\n special purpose instruments which are covered by their own IEC standards;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n special purpose devices which are covered by their own IEC standards when they are used as accessories.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n This standard does not specify requirements concerning dimensions of instruments or accessories (for the former, see IEC 60473<\/span> <\/span>).<\/p>\n Direct acting indicating analogue electrical measuring instruments and their accessories – Definitions and general requirements common to all parts<\/b><\/p>\n\n
